Lee Kanehira / Pianist and Singer

Lee Kanehira began her musical career in Japan and has performed around the world, including Korea, China, the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In addition to her work as a solo artist, she has performed with artists including Shun Kikuta. She currently tours with the Cash Box Kings, of which she is an official member, as well as blues artists Bob Stroger and Gerry Hundt.

Winner of the 2018 Chicago Blues Piano Contest, she was invited to perform at the 2019 Otis Spann tribute at the Chicago Blues Festival and appeared on its main stage in 2024. At the festival in 2026, she also performed in the Women in Blues Tribute to Mama Yancey and Big Mama Thornton, accompanying Katherine Davis on piano. 

Lee Kanehira released Union Meetin’ (2014), recorded with her Chicago friends, and her solo album Lee’s Boogie (2017). Her latest release, The Chicago Blues Trio!! (2024), was nominated for the 2025 Blues Blast Music Awards in the Best Acoustic Blues Album category.

Her main influences are: Leroy Carr, Big Maceo, Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, Pinetop Perkins and Barrelhouse Chuck

Lee Kanehira（リー・カネヒラ）／ピアニスト・シンガー

日本で音楽活動をスタートし、韓国、中国、アメリカ、カナダ、ヨーロッパなど、世界各地で演奏活動を展開。ソロアーティストとして活動するほか、菊田俊介をはじめとするアーティストとの共演経験を持つ。現在は、正式メンバーであるCash Box Kingsをはじめ、Bob Stroger、Gerry Hundtらとともにツアーを行っている。

2018年、シカゴ・ブルース・ピアノ・コンテストで優勝。翌2019年にはシカゴ・ブルース・フェスティバルのオーティス・スパン・トリビュートに出演し、2024年には同フェスティバルのメインステージに登場。また、同フェスティバル2026年の企画「Women in Blues Tribute to Mama Yancey and Big Mama Thornton」では、Katherine Davisのピアノ伴奏を務めた。

2014年にはシカゴの音楽仲間と録音したアルバム『Union Meetin’』をリリース。2017年にはソロアルバム『Lee’s Boogie』を発表した。最新作『The Chicago Blues Trio!!』（2024年）は、2025年のBlues Blast Music Awardsにおいて、Best Acoustic Blues Album部門にノミネートされた。
